Vietnam eSIM and money

The tourist eSIM plans Viettel publishes on its own site, and a dated snapshot of what a Vietnamese bank pays and charges for dollars, euros and pounds. Checked in September 2026. Prices are in dong (VND) as published.

Viettel tourist eSIM plans

Viettel published these plans on 1 November 2025. Its page says the prices do not include the cost of the SIM. Check the price at the counter, since plans change.

Viettel says you can buy the eSIM at its counters in the arrival halls of the major international airports and at authorized Viettel stores.
You show your passport for the registration the law requires, pay, and receive a QR code.
You need an unlocked phone that supports eSIM.

Exchange rates on September 30, 2026

One bank’s rates on one day, for a sense of scale. They change daily, and money changers, ATMs and your own bank use other rates. Rates are dong per one unit of the currency.

Not published yet, and why

ATM limits and fees for foreign cards. No single official page lists what Vietnamese ATMs charge foreign cards, and your own bank adds fees. We will not print figures from blogs.
Vinaphone and Mobifone plans. Their tourist pages did not load with our tools, so we have not checked their prices.
Physical SIM price. Viettel's page says plan prices exclude the SIM but does not give the SIM price.
State Bank of Vietnam reference rate. The central bank's site blocks our tools and its page shows no date.
