LOTTE Hanoi Sky Observation Deck

VerdictGo on a weekday evening: it's cheaper than the weekend combo and fills the hours after the museums close.

LOTTE Hanoi Sky is the observation deck at the top of LOTTE Center Hanoi, at 54 Lieu Giai Street. The tower was completed on 2 September 2014. It has 65 floors and stands 272 m tall, and the deck takes up the whole 65th floor, 3,514 m². A high-speed lift runs straight up to it.

The deck has two glass-floor sections, Sky Walk West and Sky Walk East, where you stand on transparent panels above the city. The operator pitches the west side for watching the sunset.

Getting there

Measured in a straight line on map coordinates, the tower is about 2.4 km from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, about 3 km from Hanoi railway station and about 4.2 km from Hoan Kiem Lake. Noi Bai International Airport is about 21 km away in a straight line; the road is longer.

Prices include VAT. The plain general ticket is listed for weekdays only. On weekends and public holidays the operator lists only packages and combos, which bundle entry with something else; the cheapest adult combos, with a drink, a gift or a photo session, are VND 280,000 (VND 220,000 for a child).

Two "happy hour" windows, 9:30 to 11:00 AM and 9:00 to 10:30 PM, come with one free gift. A family package (at least 2 adults, up to 5 children) halves the children's price.

Our take

We'd go on a weekday. Weekends push you into a combo that costs an adult VND 50,000 more. The deck stays open until 10:30 PM, so it slots in after a day of sights that close in the afternoon, and the evening happy hour falls in that window too.

Questions travelers ask

What if the day is hazy? One visitor posted after a trip up:

"I recently visited the Hanoi Sky Lotte Observation Deck, and more than the foggy view of Hanoi Skyline, I got hooked on the gallery curating the works of painter Pham Van Anh."

Is it somewhere for a drink with a view? Asked for cafés with a view in Hanoi, one reply:

"The rooftop bar or the bar at the observation deck of Lotte Center ;)"
