Go if the Golden Bridge is the picture you came to Vietnam for, and go early. Ba Na Hills (Bà Nà) is Sun World's theme park on Chua mountain, more than 1,400 m up, and your ticket starts with a round-trip cable car ride to the top. The bridge is the reason the queues exist: a 150 m gold-painted walkway held up by two giant hands, opened in June 2018. Everything else up there (a mock French village, a fantasy park, gardens, a pagoda and a beer plaza) is built for a full day out, which is how the ticket is priced.
The Walk My World travel bloggers show why the early start pays. They set a 5am alarm, were the first people up the cable car on a Tuesday in the off season, and had about 15 others a few minutes behind them. The bridge was wrapped in fog that cleared every 15 minutes or so, and they ended up liking it better misty. Their photo at 7:15 shows an empty walkway; by 9am it's a crowd. One trick from that morning: nearly everyone stops at the first hand, the one nearest the cable car station, so they had the second hand to themselves for 20 minutes. When they needed a break they walked over to the pagoda and didn't meet another soul for half an hour, just prayer flags fluttering in the wind and music playing. Their trip predates a change: they rode the first car at 7am, and their own October 2022 update says the first car for day visitors is now 8am.

What to look for
The Golden Bridge first. The operator's own guide says 08:00 to 10:00 is the easier window for photos at the bridge and the French Village, and that weekends and peak season are the crowded days. We'd head straight there off the first cable car and leave the rest for later.
The French Village and gardens second. They are what fills the afternoon. The gardens (Le Jardin D'Amour) and the village are included in the basic ticket, so you aren't paying again to wander.
Skip the add-ons unless you have kids along. The basic ticket does not cover the wine cellar, the light museum, the toboggan, climbing or the games. The Wow Pass (VND 300,000) buys a priority lane at some areas; on a weekday we wouldn't bother.

Hours and fees
| Ticket (visitors from outside Da Nang) | Adult | Child 1 m to 1.4 m | Over 70 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic: cable car, Golden Bridge, park | VND 1,000,000 | VND 800,000 | VND 800,000 |
| Combo with lunch buffet | VND 1,300,000 | VND 1,000,000 | VND 1,150,000 |
| Ba Na by Night (15:00 to 22:00) | VND 1,050,000 | VND 850,000 | VND 1,000,000 |
Children under 1 m go free, and children over 1.4 m pay the adult price. Da Nang residents pay less (VND 650,000 for an adult basic ticket). In 2026 a ticket is valid for three consecutive days if you upgrade it at the retail ticket office and register your face before the first entry.
Cable cars run from 08:00. The operator's cable car guide says lines run until about 19:00 and can shift by 15 to 30 minutes with weather and crowds; its night ticket page lists the day run as 08:00 to 18:00, then cars at 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00. The ride up takes 20 to 25 minutes.
What a day costs, worked out. Two adults and a child of 1.2 m pay VND 2,800,000 for basic tickets, or VND 3,600,000 with the lunch buffet. That's VND 800,000 for the family's lunch, about VND 267,000 a head. The night ticket costs VND 50,000 more per adult than the basic one and adds the shuttle bus from town and a dinner buffet with a litre of beer, but you only get the hours from 15:00, when the morning photo light at the bridge is long gone.

Getting there
Ba Na Hills is about 25 km southwest of central Da Nang in the operator's words; by road its two suggested routes are 34.1 km and 39.5 km. A tour transfer takes 70 to 80 minutes each way. Add 20 to 25 minutes on the cable car each way and you spend three to three and a half hours of the day just getting up and back down. That's why we say full day, not half.
The Ba Na by Night ticket includes a free shuttle that leaves at 14:00 from waiting area A1 at the 2/9 Monument in Da Nang and comes back at 20:30, 21:30 or 22:30.
From the airport, the lower cable car station is about 18 km in a straight line; the bridge is about 5 km beyond it, up the mountain.
Nearby
- Marble Mountains: about 29 km from the bridge in a straight line.
- Museum of Cham Sculpture: about 25 km in a straight line.
- My Son Sanctuary: about 29 km in a straight line, and no road runs straight there.
Questions travelers ask
Does the bridge live up to the photos? Not for everyone. In an r/VietNam thread about Ba Na Hills, one traveler wrote:
"We went because we saw the bridge hands on social media and it looked amazing. In person, it wasn’t. The cable car ride to get to the park was really cool."

Do I need a tour or a ticket booked ahead? A reply in the same thread:
"There is booths right outside the entrance to buy. No need to buy in advance it doesn’t sell out. But do not pay for a tour guide."

Our take
We'd do Ba Na Hills on a clear day, on the first car up, and plan nothing else. If the bridge isn't the reason you're going, skip it: the rest is a built theme park, and a good part of the day goes on the road and the cable car.
What we could not confirm: the last cable car down. The operator's two pages disagree (about 19:00 on one, a day run to 18:00 on the other), so ask at the lower station before you go up late.
How we checked this: ticket prices and inclusions from the operator's 2026 price list (24 July 2026), cable car hours from its guides (2024 and 1 August 2026), routes and transfer times from its 31 May 2026 guide, bridge details from its Wikipedia entry. The family total, lunch premium and round-trip transit time are our arithmetic; straight-line distances are our calculation from Wikidata and OpenStreetMap coordinates.
