Thanh Ha is a pottery village on the Thu Bon River in Hoi An Tay ward, Da Nang City. The Hoi An heritage center calls it a craft village more than 500 years old. The Thanh Ha Terracotta Park, which runs a museum on the village's history, dates it to the 16th century and says its best years were the 17th and 18th, when Thanh Ha made the bricks and tiles for Hoi An's old houses. The park's history notes that you can still see the village's yin-yang roof tiles across the Old Town.
In 2019 the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism put Thanh Ha pottery on the national list of intangible cultural heritage. On 27 September 2025 the village won "Best Community-Based Tourism Destination" at the Vietnam Tourism Awards.

Who works there
The heritage center counts 33 households and 68 workers, including 5 Meritorious Artisans, involved in pottery and tourism. It says artisans and workers receive 62.5% of the tourism revenue the village keeps. In 2019 the same site described two kinds of product, brown earthenware and red pottery. The village holds its craft anniversary each year on the 10th day of the 7th lunar month.
The village ticket
We found no official notice for the village ticket, so these figures come from two travel guides, VinWonders and Hoi An Local, which agree:
- Price: VND 35,000 for adults and VND 15,000 for children.
- What it covers: the village, the craft temple at Nam Dieu and Xuan My communal house, watching artisans at the wheel, and a try at the wheel yourself.
Opening hours differ between guides. VinWonders' English page says 8:30 to 16:30 every day, its Vietnamese page says 8:00 to 17:30, and Hoi An Local says 8:30 to 17:00.

Thanh Ha Terracotta Park
The Terracotta Park is a separate attraction at the edge of the village, on Pham Phan Street in Nam Dieu block. Its own site gives these details:
- Opening hours: every day, 8:00 to 17:30.
- Tickets: VND 50,000 for adults and VND 25,000 for children under 15. One ticket covers the miniature world of terracotta landmarks, the museum of Vietnam's traditional pottery villages, the Sa Huynh and Champa museum, ceramic art exhibitions, and an area where potters work live.
- History: construction began in 2011, and it opened to visitors in 2015 after nearly three years of building. It won a national architecture award in 2017.
The park sells hands-on workshops on top of the ticket:
| Package | What you do |
|---|---|
| VND 40,000 | Make a piece on the wheel, wait about 20 minutes for staff to dry it, take it home |
| VND 60,000 | Same, then paint it with acrylic colors |
| VND 100,000 | Same with white clay, which gives stronger color |
| VND 250,000 | Paint with oxide glazes. The potter fires it, and it ships within Vietnam in about a month |

Getting there
Our map point for the village is about 3.2 km in a straight line from the Ancient Town and 2.9 km from the Japanese Covered Bridge. VinWonders and Hoi An Local both put it about 3 km west of the town. Hoi An Local says the riverside ride takes about 20 minutes by bicycle. Da Nang airport is about 21 km away in a straight line.
Our take
The village ticket already includes a try at the wheel, so we'd only pay the Terracotta Park's extra VND 50,000 if you want its museums or a piece to take home (its VND 40,000 package needs about 20 minutes to dry). The earliest closing time any guide lists is 16:30, so get there by mid-afternoon.
